Spa Tennis had the privilege of hosting training sessions for the GB Women’s Seniors team over several days in August – the forerunner of what we hope will be a lot of high-level play at our new courts. The team is going from strength to strength with the Super Seniors (50-60+) coming 5th, and Seniors (40-54 years) 8th, at the FIP Senior European Padel Championships in Spain in June.

Sally Fisher – the team manager – was here for the sessions, as was Harrogate’s own Nicky Horn. Much of the training was carried out by the renowned Belén Castrillo, one of pro tennis’s hottest prospects in her youth before she contracted Lupus. After switching to padel Belén went on to become a multiple world and Spanish national champion in the new sport.

Belén spent a couple of weeks with us here in Harrogate, which she thoroughly enjoyed despite the less than Iberian weather!
