Andrew Simister

New member Andrew Simister is competing in an international event next year - and you can help him with his training.

Padel tennis is a very inclusive sport, and here at HSTC we are happy to involve everybody.

New member Andrew Simister’s right leg had to be amputated above the knee after he was involved in a collision last February. He was previously a keen sportsman and has got back to doing as much as he can. While he is no longer able to run – though is hoping he may be able to use a blade in future – he has a good level of fitness.

After trying padel and loving it, he has entered an event on the Inclusive Padel Tour in Milan in January 2024, with playing partner Will Linley.

As an amputee, Andrew is allowed two bounces of the ball on the court, and he and Will are in training – supported by the club – for the competition.

Sessions are currently on the covered Swiss Court from 3.30 – 5pm on Wednesdays, and hitters and other amputee players are very welcome to join in, or to arrange other sessions.

Just email the club on info@spatennis.org.uk for more details or contact Andrew directly on Instagram.
