Many, many thanks to the young soldiers of 19 Platoon from the Army Foundation College who today did a massive tidy up at the centre as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award (for Community Service). Ably managed by Chris, Carolyn, Nigel, Peter and Betsy the dog (in fetching turquoise waterproof outfit). They took down the old shed, cleared the path to the pedestrian gate, levelled off the grass along the disability access tarmac path, cleared litter from the whole site and weeded everywhere. The tarmac courts were swept and the Astro courts got the Aussie Sweep treatment. And all of this was done in the rain, sleet and snow, in very good humour from a mixed troop of very able and agreeable young men and women. Absolutely fantastic! Thanks to Andy for organising it; they can all come again and are welcome to try tennis with us anytime. Sorry no photo; when they were at the centre the conditions were horrible and the sun came out after they left!
