Apologies for mixing my sports terminology in the heading perhaps it should have said “SERVES UP”! Anyway notwithstanding my failing grasp of the English language the Centre’s teams began the competitive season this week. On Sunday both of the men’s teams playing in the York based Tyke Petroleum Men’s Tennis League¬†went down to defeat after both experiencing the ‘high’ of winning their divisional titles last season. It is perhaps a good thing that winning isn’t always an easy option and it may well serve to concentrate their efforts for the remainder of the season – good luck to them. The first team are photographed below with their Division 5 trophy before setting off to play at Wiggington the result being – Rubbers 9-3, Games 62-46. The second team are in the featured photo with their opponents Bubwith at Claro Park, losing in what was a closer game than the result indicates – Rubbers 8.5 – 3.5, Games 58-50 .
