With the prospect of the sport of tennis being able to re-start again here is a message from our chairman, Steve Reffitt.
It’s only a fortnight or so now until we can get back onto our courts, hopefully irreversibly! I am sure you will be looking forward as much as me to returning to play the game we love.
The membership renewal notices will be forwarded soon and you will notice that the HSTC board (your elected volunteers) have decided to discount the subscriptions for those members renewing for the 2021/2022 membership year to partly compensate for the lockdowns we have suffered during the current club year.
Remember we are a charity and any surplus money we make as a club is invested in our facilities. Despite the generosity of our members we are still around £100k short of the money we need to build the four indoor courts and the clubhouse, so if you have not made a pledge yet and feel able to help, please email me and I will will explain how to donate and enable the club to claim back gift aid. It would be tremendous if, despite the delays caused by the Covid pandemic, we could start building the proposed year round weatherproof courts and social facilities before the end of this year.
Nigel will shortly be inviting you to an online AGM that we are going to hold in the next few weeks. During this meeting your volunteer trustees will provide updates on general club matters and I will give a full summary of progress on fundraising for the indoor development and the status of our planning application and our submission to the Education Department to bring our lease up to date.
I greatly look forward to to seeing you at the club after 28th March.
Steve Reffitt, Chairman
